JIM AVENI is a musician, composer, guitarist, and educator.

Jim holds degrees from Berklee College of Music (BM) and New York University (MM). He has studied music composition with Ira Newborn and interactive media with Morton Subotnick. As an educator, he has taught Music Composition and Music Theory at Educational Center for the Arts in New Haven, CT. He is currently the K-12 Arts Director, Visual and Performing Arts Department Chair, and Director of Instrumental Music at Ensworth School in Nashville, TN. Jim’s teaching has been recognized by University of Miami - Frost School of Music, University of Chicago, and The YoungArts Foundation. His composition and sound design can be heard in national ad campaigns and interactive installations. As a guitarist and multi-instrumentalist, he has performed and toured throughout the U.S. and Europe. CV available upon request.
